Coming soon to a computer, camera, Mp3 player, or flash drive near you...
The new Macs are out, and I have to say I was a bit upset about their decision to phase out the Firewire transfer.  Well, it’s probably time I update my iPod anyway. Apparently it’s all USB from here on out for Mac.

That said, Eye-Com is certainly looking forward to the latest version – USB 3.0 – to incorporate into our technology. With faster transfer speeds comes high-quality streaming video, something the entire eye-tracking industry can be excited about.

USB 3.0 is boasting a transfer speed 10 times quicker than its predecessor, USB 2.0.  The word is that USB 3.0 will move a gigabyte of data from one device to another in 3.3 seconds. It takes USB 2.0 about 33 seconds to move that same gigabyte. This means fast transfer times from your camera to your computer, from your computer to your MP3 player, and certainly faster real-time data transfer for newer iterations of Eye-Com.

New USB 3.0 compatible devices will be making their way into our homes in early 2010, though the specifications are now finished and the technology is available to device manufacturers to test and implement. To the phones everyone!
